I’ve worked as a reporter, writer, researcher, communications consultant, health promoter, teacher, and artist. Currently I am a doctoral candidate in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University in Kingston. My work is focused on the stories we tell each other about food insecurity, homelessness, and poverty.
I’ve been writing fiction and poetry all of my life. Along with my dissertation, I’m currently working on Stuffing the Bus, a middle grade graphic novel (with illustrator Amanda White), and my third novel for adults, Tintamarre.
My partner and I live in rural Nova Scotia. We have a perfect dog and magnificently imperfect children and grandchildren, all of whom I love “bigger than the soap.”
